13 – END OF WATCH: This
criminally (heh) underappreciated buddy cop story is one of the best the genre
can offer. Shot in hand-held style by Jake Gylenhaal and his partner Michael Pena, this is a down-to-earth look at an
LAPD duo. From ball busting (example below)
and pranks to life-or-death shoot outs, these two go through some serious shit together and they are clearly best friends with their hearts in the right place. (continues after the jump)

This one looks like it was blast to make, with a good mix of low key,
everyone-can-relate-to moments and adrenaline-pumping police riffs. Written and directed by David Ayer, writer of
Training Day, this one has a sense of gritty realism and doesn’t shy away from
some harrowing depictions of the savagery of the street. As all you Breaking Bad fans know, the
Mexican cartels ain't nothing to fuck with.
This one surpassed my expectations and has an edge-of-your-seat third
act which is one of the better pieces of cinema I have seen this year. Take notes Rush Hour 4.
Haven't seen this, now I shall!
ReplyDeleteit is a fun ride sir. Michael Pena is a baller
